Coral Code

I absolutely loved how today's outfit came together.

Continuing on my J Crew inspiration week apparently from the Sept 2012 issue:

Once again what an unusual combination. The blue and the burgundy is cool but adding the pops of coral I found very unexpected. I adopted the look using my kika Paprika pieces for a work party today...

For the pops of coral I was only going to add the bracelets then decided to go with the necklace and couldn't stop and added the sunglasses too.

This top is so light and soft and just has the most flattering style...

Rocking my new 'shoedazzle' purse. Love the color.

Totally into buying quality bracelets now. Scored these from J Crew clearance when shopping for my sister's b-day...

My Juicy booties ensure the outfit is edgy and not so classic!

This new length of the pencil skirt is one of my faves this season. I actually love the mini too. Both skirts are super comfortable and stretchy so you don't have to take baby steps even though you are wearing a tighter looking skirt!

Look how light my hair got in just one month! Ready for touch up next week....

TODAY:

Think pink...and orange

Today's outfit inspired by another Sept 2012 J Crew catalog photo:
I pretty much cut 50% off J Crew catalogs for inspiration. I really love their style and they have a neck for putting together very unexpected color combinations.  Like this blush-magenta-orange combo!

If you notice I usually convert their dressy pieces to more casual ones to fit my lifestyle. The magenta jeans vs the satin cafe pants and the cardi vs. blazer for example.

Yeay, finally wearing this super duper chunky necklace I bought at Ann Taylor Loft. Love it!

FRIDAY:
Skipped my daughter's class today so we could make it to my son's thanksgiving skit in his class on time. My parents came with. They had a real cute skit put together with costumes made out of paper bags which they colored themselves.
Then all the kindergarten classes shared a thanksgiving feast together in the playground.
In the afternoon I had another photo shoot for my 'who is wearing Kika?' monday posts and my husband brought take out for dinner. :)

 Princess was ready!
 We like making funny faces!

Feast afterwards....

Book Club

Today's inspiration was from the J Crew Catalog (Sept 2012):

I liked this mustard and yellow combination.

Top, Pants, Necklace - Forever 21
Cardigan - Victoria's Secret
Boots - Steve Madden
Bracelet - Stella & Dot

With my little prince who I took him to school and volunteered in his class while my mom babysat the princess....

And then at night hosted my first book club meeting. We formed this group with the pre-school mommies knowing slowly as our kids start different elementary school's we will stop seeing each other everyday and this will be a way for us to keep in touch and we all love to read!
Our book last month was 'White Tiger'. Depressing but an extremely educational book.
Our discussion varied from an in-depth perception of our Indian friend who has been living in U.S for the last 10 years to other cultures like mine where the low class and upper class are so extremely set apart to how that truly differs from the way African Americans were treated in this country.

And we also voted on the book for next month which is going to be 'The Red Tent'.

And to think this all started with a group to discuss '50 Shades of Grey'! :)

 Yummy Indian Dishes...

And look at this totally adorable and totally 'me' bookmark my friend made for me for hosting! :)

Casually Slacking

In the interest of catching up with are going with two outfits in one post from the same inspiration page .
This page is from Sept 2011 issue of People Style Watch. My folders are getting so big and I simply do not have enough days to wear all the outfit ideas I have. So some are getting old like this but they still feel current so here it goes....
You can see below how I mark my inspirations by the way. I take notes next to the photos as to which pieces from my closet resemble the outfit. Then I assign a number and add it to my excel spreadsheet! I know, I know I lost you at 'excel spreadsheet' but that is me! :)

First outfit inspiration was this green pants, blush blazer with burgundy heels combo:

You can see I modified this a bit. I didn't feel like a button down blouse today so wore this white top my sister left with me (sometimes she leaves clothing at my house without an explanation)!
I also felt too cold to wear purple wedges so wore my bordeaux doc marten style boots instead. I like the contrast it creates with the dressy top. The necklaces were also more interesting. Her outfit seemed a bit plain.

what can I say this eagle necklace is my new favorite. It kind of increases the 'cool' factor in all my outfits! The colors are perfect and it is a pretty heavy and high quality necklace. Sometimes F21 can surprise you. The 2nd necklace was an amazing find from Anthropologie clearence rack for $10.

These boots are more practical than the originals as they have  a side zip so I never fuss with the laces which is somewhat of a requirement for me with the kids.

Jacket, Eagle Necklace, belt - Forever 21
Top - Topshop
Long necklace - Anthropologie
Bracelet - Charlotte Russe
Pants - Bebe
Boots - Target
Sunglasses - House of Harlow

2nd OUTFIT:

So I was going to add my more grey pants and white blazer to match this better but I felt cozier with the grey blazer and honestly I didn't care enough to search for the grey slacks in the kids closets and reached for this pair in my closet instead.
Since they were too long I couldn't do white sneakers but added my wedge sneakers instead...

The eagle again. :)

I think everything is pretty much from Forever 21
except the sneakers are steve madden and
the tee is from Target...

TUESDAY:
Went to the outdoor class then had to leave early to pick up my son from school as they have half days all this week. Met a group of kindergarten mommies for a playdate at a park closer to the school. It was so nice getting to know them better and forming relationships. The kids had fun too.

WEDNESDAY:
Went to the indoor class then my parents picked up the kids and my hubby and I have our first parent teacher conference for my son. I am then meeting the girls for happy hour!
