Holding on tight

These photos were taken Thursday and am just getting around to posting them.
I love this 'cape' from the Kika Paprika line this season.  When it first came out I was thinking I already own a cape but that is more like a coat. I can't live in my cape indoors. This one feels like a sweatshirt and yet looks like outerwear and so chic. I have this 'cognac' one and another in 'eggplant' color on my rack.

Me in my everyday natural state with no make-up... Which is why I usually pose with my sunglasses...

LAST FEW DAYS:
It has been insane busy last couple of days. I am full gear in working mode making phone calls meeting clients and making things happen which really motivates me even more. Volunteered at my son's school on Thursday which I love doing. A few of the kids came and gave me a hug when I showed up which warmed me all over.

Now....Speaking of volunteering....

I am sick absolutely sick to my stomach about the Connecticut school massacre. I couldn't stop crying last night....

With every school or public shooting with every random acts of crime you feel sick. But this was different. May be it was too close to home as I have a son in kindergarten. It shattered any kind of safety I feel when I send my 5 year old to school everyday. In this great nation I shouldn't be afraid to send my little boy to school.

I can't even begin to comprehend the pain those 20 families are going through. Two weeks before Christmas with probably presents already bought from Santa and hidden in their house they send their kid to school in a normal rushed morning routine and never to see them again. It is unbearable to think to imagine. How do you recover from that? I don't think you ever can. Made me realize I don't think I can survive if something happened to my kids. It is the most awful feeling to feel this fear. As I am filled with fear and sorrow, my husband is filled with outrage towards such unthinkable crime.

My heart and soul goes out to these families.

And I continue to enjoy my little miracles and hug them for eternity...

Sugar Plum Fairy

My outfit last night as I attended a board meeting for planning a fundraising event for a non profit organization. You will see the outfit I wore earlier in the day. I swapped the tulle skirt with the cream mini from my line and added this soft tweed cardigan and a belt.

DAY OUTFIT:

This was our matching outfits to see the Nutcracker Ballet on Wednesday!

I got the idea for this color combination from this lookbook photo of 'Threadsence' website:
I kind of liked these dark colors with the stark light tulle skirt...

WEDNESDAY:
Our trip to the ballet was great. We read the book twice a few nights before the performance so my daughter knew the story plus she has been taking ballet for a few months now so we kept identifying the moves. We got lucky and sat in the very front row which was awesome. I watch pretty much solely their feet so front row seats were perfect.
It was such a pleasure sharing the experience with my daughter. Her favorite part was the dances in the 'land of sweets' and the 'sugar plum fairy'.

Who is wearing Kika? - Meet Samantha

As you might have read this is a new feature on my blog where every Monday I post a different model styled in the wonderful comfortable and stylish clothing line I sell: kikaPaprika!

Meet Samantha - one of my sister's closest friend
You met her originally when we did a group photo shoot with my lil Sis Buket, Crystal and Samantha in THIS post...

Samantha is another young professional who is newly employed at UCSD as an Administrative Coordinator. She is true San Diego native but loves to travel and stay active. Friends and family are the most important things in her life...

What she loves about Kika clothes is how effortless they are.
In her own words:
'They are stylish, functional and comfortable. It is so rare that you can find a clothing line that has that combination of style and comfort. I also love that the clothes are made in the U.S.A."

This was my favorite combination...Looks so attractive and professional at the same time.  And the colors were so fresh...

'Victoria' top in Poppy by kikaPaprika ($68)
'Simone' skirt in navy by kikaPaprika ($60)

OUTFIT #2

I have been waiting for a blonde model to showcase this beautiful mineral wash jacket. The color and the cut worked gorgeously on Samantha...

'Penny' jacket in Mineral Wash by kikaPaprika ($152)
Bootcut pocket pants in black ($75)
'Drew' tank in black ($40)

This was I think Samantha's favorite combo. I have worn a similar one but my skirt was 'eggplant' where this is 'bordeaux'. This statement making belt also suited her young and fresh style...
